This is a small group which meets fortnightly on Tuesday nights, 7.30 – 10.00p.m. in John Warren's home. It is not an exclusive group of Knockbreda “saints”. We openly admit our frailties and would gladly welcome anyone with a desire for Christian fellowship and a greater understanding of the Bible.
It has been a great time of fellowship interspersed with humour and anecdote(s). One or two do go on a bit “down By-pass Meadow”, but a good (mild) rebuke usually suffices! Seriously though, it has been a wonderful time of growing in faith, praying for each other and learning about what the Lord has given us in His word.
We normally follow interactive Bible study booklets, but this year we have been led by Robert Lavery, a former member of Knockbreda, in a study of ‘Christ’s Second Coming’. Robert has put a lot of effort into his research and preparation to produce a compelling, illuminating, and detailed study of this much neglected topic. We are indebted to Robert and look forward to his continuing fellowship with us.
I feel this has been an important year for all in this group, a milestone on our individual journeys with Christ. The Bible really is an amazing “book” and unlike so many we are free to meet in study and discussion without fear of persecution.
Selwyn Hughes in “Every Day With Jesus” daily devotional for Sunday 16th March 2008 makes the following important point “ A crying need of God’s people and the contemporary Church is for systematic Bible teaching and an understanding of the Scriptures”.
