Teenagers and young adults belonging to Knockbreda have been supported in personal development.
Three of our young people, Sarah Small, Rebecca Small and Sarah Wilson are all actively involved and committed to ‘Word of Life’ projects in Kenya. This will be Sarah Small’s third and Rebecca Small and Sarah Wilson’s second visit. These young ladies have worked very hard raising funds for each visit and our congregation has seen the evidence of their experience through the presentation of their work as recorded on DVDs, photographs and talks to the congregation.
Kathy Small has also been very much involved in fundraising for this project and this will be her first visit to Kenya.
We want to further support and encourage them with our thoughts and prayers for the health and safety of all those going out from Knockbreda in the name of Christ. God grant that they will be a blessing to all they encounter.
Feedback from the young people is a key element of worship. Sarah and Adam Wilson participated in the ‘Streetreach’ programme run in conjunction with St Andrew’s last Easter.
We also maintain links with The Ulster Project which enables young people to be involved in cross community outreach in Ireland and America. This summer Chris Nixon went to Ohio with eleven other teenagers from different denominations on the Ulster Project.
The advantages of this robust involvement of young people is their Christian growth but also their commitment to the church in a leadership role, in the Sunday School and the Junior Christian Endeavour.
